I am like lightning you hear me after I'm gone, already left. I strike fast before your-last-breath. You don't hear my words until I've already left. My flow is less than perfect because I left before perfection came. My past is your present. I live in the future so your present can last. So, I leave my gifts for you in my past. I outlast what the sun outshines 'cause I make lasting impressions with my mind. I'm the solar flare from dark space. I deal with dark matter. I create light and serve it on a titanium platter. I'm precious, like metal. More than perfect is when I settle. So I'm more affluent in the ghetto. Closing open minds so they can contain light and open minds that shine like the night, 'cuz they're on the dark side. Satan, get thine behind! I am the light, so I show you my MIND. Mind your business. My mind is you. So lightning the darkness! I continue...

Yo, sometimes in war you gotta go in the trenches. No matter how sinful it is or how bad the stench is. ‘cause if you don’t, the enemy’ll have you in stitches while you’re still crying about all those that snitch and then left you in the dust when the heat got too thick. You’ll be in a fuss and your brain you’ll pick until you turn mentally ill and need millions upon millions of chemical pills to keep you sane when in reality, remaining sane really means healing your pain. We need to stop playing these games of constant mistrust and eternal blame so we can grow into a unit of positive peeps that can cure any ill in these city streets. To the stars we need to reach so we can positively teach our young children who are illing only because our predecessors have been chillin’ on their couches, wheelin’ and dealing only with nurturing their own personal feelings of physical lust and constant mistrust, of drinkin’ stuff and smokin’ canibus. Can I just search for peace instead of looking for grease to slick my nappy hair? I swear this burden I won’t bear when my ancestors helped create this unhealthy atmosphere. Listen loud and clear- I’M OUTA HERE!! I shall destroy this reality by living in my mind until it’s time for us to spiritually bind into one agreement for one achievement into spiritual bliss that has the gist of confused consciousness turning organized and making us wise so devilish ways can’t surprise us back into chaos. I’m sick of being lost in a labyrinth that’s really a straight line. There really is a fine point between being lost and found in this joint of interconnectedness with no respect-and it’s a damn shame when we still look for others to blame when we don’t accept our own contributions-f*** retribution! I want executed solutions. That’s our payback— not greenbacks that are simple IOUs for their slack of spiritual neglect and physical crack, that gets us high on lyrical drivebys that kill our mental ability— I just want some stability that is found only with the use of humility and a good heart. It is, at least, a good start.

It is, at least, a good start. Many search for peace and tranquility But for stability Must 1st have humility All else exercises futility Greater works begins with humility Never doubt your personal ability Just walk with God, have faith and humility Then your work will flip with agility Bring sevenfold return, all with humility

I am running in a straight line looking for a clearing Deep in the wilderness, my ears are hearing Different opinions and trains of thought I must utilize the wisdom my Creator brought Right in my lap-I feel trapped By stress that’s building up and has zapped Me right in the chest: I know I’m blessed But I must sweep through soil, clean up this mess So I won’t have to repeat lessons or fail this test again This has to be the tenth time So now I write a different type of rhyme So now I write a different type of rhyme Relationships help me to evolve But other peeps problems I can’t solve I have to solve me and ask for help when needed The elders wisdom I must always heed We skip past the process, that ain’t tight Just like a skipping CD, it don’t sound right Teach us how to fish so we can proceed Don’t give us fish, that ain’t what we need! We skip past the process, that ain’t tight Just like a skipping mp3, it don’t sound right Teach us how to fish so we can proceed Don’t give us fish, that ain’t what we need! I drop the type of wisdom that uplifts sages write the poetry that got you turning pages perfect the peace that transcends rages but bold as a lion breaking through cages it's me, Kayode, with flows that're smooth rap acapella to jam own grooves sanitize like chlorine, so I clean fools full of bullsh!t rap that stink like stool I minimize aggression and just teach lessons my childhood perspectives I keep manifesting as an adult, I make suggestions that, for those that heed, kiss perfection We skip past the process, that ain’t tight Just like a skipping CD, it don’t sound right Teach us how to fish so we can proceed Don’t give us fish, that ain’t what we need! We skip past the process, that ain’t tight Just like a skipping mp3, it don’t sound right Teach us how to fish so we can proceed Don’t give us fish, that ain’t what we need! so listen to the Man that elevates minds and breaks you down like a million times so we can build ourselves up to where we need to be instead of in the depths of this society on the bottom of the houses we built or being blackened by the industry’s silt we need to get up; stop being lazy and find our minds instead of being crazy before we all are pushing up daisies from a cloud that’s purple and hazy or should I say green, cuz it seems that we smoke away our dreams for dead presidents and mary jane when mary lou are playing games with tom, dick and harry— yo, it’s scary when we marry all things that are contrary… to our original beliefs. We skip past the process, that ain’t tight Just like a skipping CD, it don’t sound right Teach us how to fish so we can proceed Don’t give us fish, that ain’t what we need! We skip past the process, that ain’t tight Just like a skipping mp3, it don’t sound right Teach us how to fish so we can proceed Don’t give us fish, that ain’t what we need! Now, we have peeps that teach, but we don’t learn So we are to blame if we burn Life’s an oracle, we best start to read Cuz life gives us everything that we need What do we want? It doesn’t matter We can get it all right on a silver platter The catch is if we want it, we need to work So if hearing that phrase gets you urked, Don’t step over here calling me a jerk Do for you FIRST or prepare for a hearse Excuse me if I sound too terse Our salvation is near, oh so close So there’s no time to be verbose Shut your trap unless you sayin’ something Produce results and stop frontin’ If you ain’t got it, don’t whine to me for nothin’! Unless you come with the wish That I can teach you how to fish I won’t hand it to you on a dish So don’t think that I’m trying to dis When you become pissed After I give you some worms And then blow you a kiss I’m teaching you how not to burn Cuz that is what I’ve learned Only after I have burned Only after I have burned. So don’t think I’m playing games If I invite you to walk into your flames If you waste time asking me “Why?” Before I can answer, you will die That’s what my elders told me, That’s what I tell you If you know how to fish, you’re an elder too. Repeat 4x

3:23 05:28
3:23 in the morn, and I can’t sleep thinkin’ bout you between every heartbeat concentrate longer, heartbeat gets slower I stay happy, high blood pressure gets lower When you speak, I let you have the floor The sound of your voice makes me want more! I was up in my bed, Didn’t know what to do Couldn’t go to sleep Cuz I’m thinkin’ bout you I know if you glimpse back in my past You’d surely look and have to laugh I failed so many times, in so many ways When I tried to spit game for so many days Paying taxes from all the prices I paid When I didn’t heed advice the elders laid Thinkin’ bout you, & just couldn’t sleep Cuz sweat’s on my pillow and I feel the heat I envision you walking down the street But you faded away our bodies wouldn’t meet! I know what I want, but I try to get high You knew I tried to front, tried to get by The thought of losing you makes me wanna cry But, instead, I’m on my back, in bed, askin’ why?!? 3:23 in the morn, and I can’t sleep thinkin’ bout you between every heartbeat concentrate longer, heartbeat gets slower I stay happy, high blood pressure gets lower When you speak, I let you have the floor The sound of your voice makes me want more! When I hear you speak, I hang on every sentence Cuz now, I know, I’m ready for repentance All my dimes combine for crazy dollars But, in your Word, I must become a scholar I look up to your Son, in Him I work to follow But the peeps on the street were my role models. Now, I changed heart, so habits change next I just look to your Words for Grace and respect Because… I love you, God I love you God, I love you, God I love you! I love you, God I love you God, I love you, God I love you! I love you, God I love you God, I love you, God I love you! I love you, God I love you God, I love you, God I love you! What you have to say Is all that I need In your words, God, I must heed! I’m down on one knee askin’ to proceed All while lying in my bed, I beg and plead. I know your Word is always checkin’ me Perplexin’ me, these girls keep textin’ me Saying that they love me, but they don’t know That the love for you, I’m still workin’ to show! I appreciate you lettin’ me vent At 3AM while I work to repent In your image, I must 1st represent So I can empower my life, Then find my wife I know, God, you told me more than twice But I’m hardheaded, just tell me thrice! One more time so I can make it, I hold this course, others try to shake it. But… I love you, God I love you God, I love you, God I love you! I love you, God I love you God, I love you, God I love you! I love you, God I love you God, I love you, God I love you! I love you, God I love you God, I love you, God I love you! No weapon formed against me shall prosper So I read your Word to help keep me proper! X4 3:23 in the morn, and I can’t sleep thinkin’ bout you between every heartbeat concentrate longer, heartbeat gets slower I stay happy, high blood pressure gets lower When you speak, I let you have the floor The sound of your voice makes me want more!

Rated PG 03:38
Life is rated PG Professional guidance is suggested For the 1st time you get that paycheck And see FICA abbreviated like a noose around your neck it’s Rated PG to guide you through the blasphemy Of separation. Separation of church from state As your estate is sold to the state. In God we trust! Contradictory love and lust For money. Quench our thirst As we hunger for more. Mere peanuts, caramel and milk chocolate Tastes good, But my hunger still exists. Rated PG so you can explain this. I need to consult a professional psychotic A schizophrenic neurotic That tries to neuter my ambition Like a lynched slave. Castrate me after holding me by the nuts Work us for 35 years And expect us not to cuss In their face. My paycheck goes to pay for Lazy jokes that are smarter than me Cuz they live off of social security Living in the projects, but got cable Are not ready or willing but able To get up off their ass and put their own food on the table Power to the people! We live off of others work While others work in wars that gets me urked Fighting for God’s product as if it’s ours. We have dominion, But damn! My gas should be paid for by Uncle Sam! Free speech is an expensive price to pay… My life could be transported underground And sacrificed for A melatonin pill As I sit still and meditate. My life is great As I think greatly about all the guidance that is suggested. Coletrane was sick with his. His horn sprayed melee’s of anti-war cries Spasmodic moments of earth, wind and fire Praising the Most Higher Than a preacher could in church That is paid for with tax-dollars Now, that’s a nonprofit Not one profit can exist without paying a price Prophets are sacrificed We are all on the cross Getting whipped As we trip On a $500 flat screen Stand in line for hours, know what i mean? We do that but won’t get up for a job Save our pennies and create the business we were purposed to have Having dominion means being a good steward Responsible for cleaning the sewer And making sure it’s not full of shit Can this poem u get wit? As my rhymes flow like liquid? Liquid libations Flowing thru air I yell ashe everywhere! My prayer basks in God’s light Is that why we lose sight? Our vision should not be blinded Our light we can see Make us look in the mirror Clearly Professional guidance is suggested But who are the pros getting left with?

Saving 03:48
When you feel anger, Don’t waste it by walking into danger Express it by being meaningful Then manifest your wildest dreams and goals Create Your Destiny… I wanna be me and I wanna be fly, I wanna be how and I wanna be why, I wanna be because and I wanna be you, I wanna be us in our own tennis shoe, I wanna be free and I wanna be sustained, I wanna be deep and I wanna be mundane, always evolving and forever the same, I wanna manifest the meaning of my name. Before you lose your sanity, Just get saved and roll with me… Repeat I dunno what to do many times of the day because of emergencies that come my way. Parents coming to visit and wanting to talk, Or students cutting class to go take a walk, My principal’s keen eye working like a hawk, or my deadlines stacking like a beanstalk. I just wish that I could finish these dues in life so I can replenish Don’t use profanity Because you’re saved and roll with me… Repeat Shopping carts hit my feet deplete my smile Other carts block my way in every aisle Carts hit my heels with a yelling child Little kids just running wild Running errands? They’re running me As I drive these streets like I’m crazy Drivers not focused, on their phones they talk Others stroll the street like it’s a sidewalk They look at me, they huff and they pout I just want to shout, cuss them all out! All these thoughts run through my head But then, a loving voice appeared and said: I am the way, the truth and the life: No man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my father also: And from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. To Help others keep their sanity Help them get saved and roll with me… To Help others keep their sanity Help them get saved and roll with me… Before you lose your sanity, Just get saved and roll with me… Don’t use profanity Because you’re saved and roll with me… To Help others keep their sanity Help them get saved and roll with me…

2nd Verse (by Kayode) I dive into the midst of millions of trees, walk in the darkness with the greatest of ease, look all around me and do what I please ‘cause my spirit’s so strong it fends off disease. So thru the woods I plaster, deeming the creator as my only master. Sit down and pray only to walk faster into the midst of another disaster— the tragedy of me staring fear in the face when before that feeling had no place in my soul…when I was a year less old, journeyung thru Ndugu and breaking the mold by crossing thru the rites of passage— well, the first level was done but the last is so far away…or so I thought. But then I was taught that self mastery is complete when you can just chill, sit perfectly still yet strengthen your will until you have killed every iota of free will (unless it’s God’s).

Validation 03:22
I look at other peeps that walk the streets Whether ice cold snow or sweltering heat Mistakes of others’ past, people repeat Looking for validation from others we meet Looking for love in all the wrong places Stuffin’ round parts in square spaces Beautiful women to many eyes But low self esteem To their own demise Our own life is what we despise We can turn it all around, it’s no surprise! We fight this in our nation Sickness: called validation I look around to see Who validates me I look around and see Nobody. I look around to see Who validates me I look around and see Nobody. Work to be accepted, Fear being rejected When our life God’s already protected Validate ourselves, stay true to our creed Supplying the world with what it needs What we’re most gifted to give More than tithes, from the good we live That’s what we do in our nation Get this thing called validation Yeah, yeah, God has to get the glory Stop looking to others to validate your story The testimony is to help others pass their test To help them realize how to live their best To get what they need to continue to serve So when God steers, don’t swerve Do things for yourself that you deserve Continue to keep life preserved By doing what you born to do Not looking for validation from you-know-who Whoever caught your eye, Whoever gave you bliss Whoever it is That you want to kiss Your life validates itself by the fruit you bear I look around to see Who validates me I look around and see Nobody. I look around to see Who validates me I look around and see Nobody. Bridge (Vamp) I looked in the mirror just one time And saw that God Validates me and mine. Too corny for radio, too hardcore for the streets But this flow right here will surely meet Those with faith, it’s how we all see, ‘n’ Show and prove by tellin’ what you’re receiving Only eagles can see fruit in real high trees ‘Less you climb high enough to see (So…so?) So, let’s get to climbing! Yeah! Yeah! That’s why I’m rhyming! Strong words of Nommo I’m supplying! I am! Cuz God said so. So are you, so let’s go To the place no man has gone before A trek that moves past the stars of yore. Doing Heavenly work is a chore. But let’s keep working till we work no more Work to have fun, and have fun working. Life’s a work in the making, no twerkin’. Live to the fullest, assembly’s not forsaken. Keep living right or watch life start shaking. Live your purpose, No one else will start taking. (Echo)
